It has certainly been a while since I have written a post. I have been super busy with finishing my thesis and I haven’t had much down time. Grad school classes are wrapping up quickly and I have started the job hunt. It is a very intimidating process but I’m looking forward to having a full-time job soon!
I would really love to blog more. Unfortunately, I don’t think that posting frequently will happen until after graduation in May.
Hi friends! We have successfully made it half-way through the week! After getting out of the funk of the Monday blues I realized that two weeks from tomorrow I get to see Cody!! Yay for being positive!
This week I’m loving…
During the summer I always end up drinking iced coffee to get my jolt of caffeine but I end up not having much tea. This past week it has been really cool temperatures in the morning and at night– so I started majorly craving some hot tea. I have been drinking a few cups of British Breakfast Tea in the morning and then sleepy time tea at night. Oh fall.. I am so excited for you :)
It also doesn’t hurt to drink out of inspirational mugs when drinking said tea :)
During my long hours of research each day for work and my thesis I have been listening to soo much music. I can’t get enough of Chris Brown’s- Don’t Wake Me Up. It is also a really good song to wake up to because it starts off slow…
Also, I have been listening to lots of Dispatch. The song- General will always be one of my favorite tunes of all time. Unfortunately this is the best video I could find.
Today I woke up and had a serious case of the Monday morning blues. I wasn’t looking forward to starting the week and just felt a little on the cranky side. I decided laying in bed that I wasn’t going to have a bad day.
My best friend and I send ‘I am thankful messages’ back and forth to each other. The message can really be anything– something small or really big and important. Even on the worst days I try to remind myself that I have so much to be thankful for.
So I made a list of all of the things I am thankful for on this blah lovely Monday morning…
1. I am thankful that every night I get to cuddle with my puppy.
2. I am thankful that I was able to accomplish a ton this weekend.
3. I am thankful that all of the super stressful meetings that I had last week paid off! I found out today that I have a thesis project that is approved.
4. I am thankful that I was able to hike with my family yesterday and enjoy the beautiful day.
5. I am thankful that each night and every morning I am able to talk to Cody on FaceTime.
6. I am thankful that my best friend is always there for me and listen to all of the things I wouldn’t dare tell anyone else.
7. I am thankful that I have a bunch of fresh fruits and veggies in my fridge for the week.
8. Finally, I am thankful that I have such a wonderful support system that makes everyday so much easier.
This list put things into perspective.. I have soo much to be thankful for!
What is one thing you are thankful for this Monday morning?
Guess what I learned about this week?! Polyvore! Have you gone onto this website?
Polyvore is slightly addicting after you get the hang of it. Just like Pinterest. You are able to mix and match fashion pieces on a blank screen and then publish them for others to view. I tried to use this website a while ago– but I couldn’t seem to get the hang of it. But with a little patience I was able to create this look below.
I’m thinking about using this format for future Fashion Friday Posts.. what do you think?
Personally I like that you are able to see each piece together so the flow seems a lot better.
Do you like something particularly in the picture above? Below are the links to each piece. Pretty convenient if you ask me!
So I have learned recently about this trend… ombre. Have you heard of this? It is everywhere. Literally everywhere. Hair, shirts, dresses, pants, skirts.. the list goes on and on. Pinterest has exploded with examples of this trend. I know ombre has been around for a little while but with Pinterest- individuals can learn how to make these garments at home now.
Ombre is French for “shadow” or gradual change in tone. In fashion that means the color of a piece of clothing gradually shifts to another color or shade. This color transition can be very subtle like a dark purple fading into a light purple or it can be very drastic. For example, going from black to white.
Here is a video giving some examples of ombre from Fashion Week:
Ombre is the new tie-dye if you will. It is very easily replicated at home and can turn an old garment into a new hot piece!
Here are some examples.

Thank goodness this week is a short one! I have a bunch to get finished for school so I am eager for the weekend to have some extra time.
Here is what I’m loving this past week:
Brookside- Dark Chocolate Pomegranate
My grandma Joyce had these treats during our Labor Day weekend visit. Oh my goodness- they are so delicious! I love the dark chocolate on the outside and the tropical taste of a pomegranate on the inside. Nom nom nom.
Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks
I have already had two Pumpkin Spice Lattes since they announced this amazing drink is back for the fall. This drink tastes like pumpkin pie, which obviously screams fall to me!
Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman
I want to dance with my Dad to this song. It’s so beautiful.
Don’t Trust the B- in Apartment 23
I am finding all kinds of great shows lately. This one is pretty cute too!
Hi friends! I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend. My parents and I headed down to Atlanta for the weekend. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousin (on my Dad’s side) all live within 5 minutes of each other, which makes visiting so much fun. We arrived on Saturday around noon and were able to have a bunch of quality time together. My favorite parts about these trips are our large family dinners. Last night we couldn’t stop laughing about nothing… what a fun time!
I wasn’t able to get much homework finished over the weekend but sometimes it’s a good thing to put down the books and just enjoy family. I love this view outside of my grandparent’s house.
I hope you all had a nice long relaxing weekend! Now let’s go conquer the week ahead!
So I left last you, before WILW, telling you that Cody was coming to town!! I just wanted to share a few pictures of our time together and a few captions. Long distance relationships truly make you appreciate the small things. It was wonderful to be able to just be together this week :) Here is our week according to my iPhone.
Carm is such a good sport ;)
Lunch at my favorite local spot.
We celebrated Dad’s 56th birthday in style. Yes that is a beer in Dad’s hand.. at the movie theater! What??
Getting ready for a night of fun!
A beautiful night at the baseball field.
Blue eyes :)
A morning of motocross riding!
Art supply shopping for Cody’s brother, Daniel.
Homemade gf french toast (don’t worry Cody’s was of the gluten variety), fruit, eggs, and amazing coffee made by Cody.
I’m truly blessed to have such an amazing man in my life.
