It’s Friday! I’m sure you are aware 🙂
So I have learned recently about this trend… ombre. Have you heard of this? It is everywhere. Literally everywhere. Hair, shirts, dresses, pants, skirts.. the list goes on and on. Pinterest has exploded with examples of this trend. I know ombre has been around for a little while but with Pinterest- individuals can learn how to make these garments at home now.
Ombre is French for “shadow” or gradual change in tone. In fashion that means the color of a piece of clothing gradually shifts to another color or shade. This color transition can be very subtle like a dark purple fading into a light purple or it can be very drastic. For example, going from black to white.
Here is a video giving some examples of ombre from Fashion Week:
Ombre is the new tie-dye if you will. It is very easily replicated at home and can turn an old garment into a new hot piece!
Here are some examples.
What do you think of ombre? Is this a fashion trend you want to replicate?

Yay! I have successfully made it through my second week of school! It’s been a pretty good week. I’m slowly adjusting to school mode. I just got back from a happy hour with about thirty students in my program.. so. much. fun! I’m glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and headed there for a few hours!
On to Fashion Friday… and particularly hair. So I have this obsession with curly hair. Not super tight ringlets but more long wavy curls. Like this…
I am absolutely horrible with a curling iron and so I always use hot rollers, which ends up making my hair look like this:
I like the hot rollers because they are quick and easy to use but I end up having tight curls that don’t fall out very much.
So this morning I woke up and naturally looked through my Pinterest and found this tutorial:
~ Check out Cara’s blog! She has such cute fashion and fair tricks.
The video from Cara is for big wavy curls! Score! A few things I learned:
With a lot of patience and a burnt ear from my curling iron… I ended up with this:
It’s official. I’m in love. I can’t wait to get better!
What hair trend are you in love with?
As much as I hate to admit it.. it is August (almost September) and school has started. The positive to all of this are warm days and cool nights and it’s time for football weekends. So here is just a casual fall night look. Please don’t hate me that I’m talking about summer being over, okay?
Top: Market V-neck T from Gap. $19.95.
Accent: Charming Peacock Feather Scarf from Deloom. $17.85.
Bottom: Women’s The Rockstar Super Skinny Jeans from Old Navy- $29.00
Shoes: Troopa – Women’s Combat Leather Boots by Steve Madden. $99.95.
Have a great Friday!
TGIF! It’s Friday!
I recently started training for my next half marathon so I thought I would share my favorite running items. So this is a bit of a different fashion Friday.
Garmin Running Watch:
I currently have the Garmin Forerunner 405 running watch and love it. I have had it for over two years and use it for all training runs. Although the Garmin watches are pretty large, the 405 is a manageable size and has easy to use features. I’m pretty sure this watch is smarter than me.. so I am constantly learning new features that the watch can do.
Goody Elastic Athletic Headbands. I use these headbands on every run. They stay in my hair and keep all of my fly aways in check.
Personally I love wearing the shirts that I have received from past races. I always feel more motivated when I run in shirts that I earned.
Nike Women’s Tempo Track Running Shorts. I have these shorts in pretty much every color. They are super comfortable and a good length for running shorts.
I also use Bodyglide Anti-Chafe Balm for long runs. This anti-chafe glide is amazing.

Another Friday… another Fashion Friday.
My friends and I play this game at work where we give each other a clothing scenario written on a piece of paper and you have to pick out an outfit in one minute. Working retail this game is very entertaining 🙂 Here was my latest scenario:
Your mission if you choice to accept:
“You just finished another half marathon and find out that the hot guy
you passed during the race is going to be at dinner that night.
After seeing you all hot and sweaty… you need an outfit to impress him.
Ready… set… go!”
So the outfit below is what I would wear on a date night with this apparently good looking half marathoner ;P I’m sure they were talking about Cody!
I love this simple and classy dress. Such an easy dress to throw on and look great! This is from my WILW post this past week. I am officially in love. I also have a thing for this color and cut this Spring!
I also love these Badgley Mischka “Goodie” Pump. I am sure they would look adorable with multiple outfits, which they should for their price tag. Ouch!
For the accessories I like adding another color to the outfit. This orange definitely does the trick in the earrings, necklace, and cocktail ring.
JCrew: Cabochon Fan Earrings
Macy’s: Cocktail Ring.
So there you have it.. this guy half marathoner didn’t stand a chance 🙂
I can’t believe how quickly the weeks are flying by this summer. I am working at my internship 2 days a week and then working the other 5. Seven days of work– it’s a bit much but you have to pay the bills somehow. So it’s time for another Fashion Friday.
Since I have been working so much I thought a work appropriate look is the way to go this Friday.
JCrew: Schoolboy blazer. I have this blazer in navy blue. I bought this blazer about 5 years ago and it is still in great condition (I probably end up wearing it about 2-3 times a month to work). It is an investment but something that definitely doesn’t go out of style. I really like this gray neutral version.
In fear of a boring outfit I like to pair the blazer with a graphic shirt or textured shirt that adds a little something unexpected instead of doing a traditional button down. I love the graphic on this shirt from Urban Outfitters.
I always get super hot at work so with a blazer on I almost always wear a skirt. I love this shirt from Banana Republic. The texture and pattern are really interesting.
Enzo Angiolini “Tanen” Pump: Nordstrom’s anniversary sale is going on right now and these shoes originally $99.95 are now $66.90. I’m not sure you can say that’s really a steal. But still $33.05 off for shoes is a good deal ~especially because I wear black heels with so many of my work outfits.
I would pair this outfit with a pop of color such as Essie: Camera nail polish– “a brilliant coral pink neon.” This color is similar to the one in the shirt but just more vibrant.
Lastly I would add a fun pair of earring and then call it a day. I found these pretty earrings on Claire’s. I haven’t shopped there in years but I think these complete the outfit.
Have a great Friday!
We made it through another week. Time is flying by quickly. I want it to sloww way down.
I am just feeling the casual look lately so I thought I would come up with just a simple casual Friday outfit.
Blouse from Urban Outfitters: Pins and Needles Peplum Blouse. This blouse is such a great color and is a very flattering cut.
Cropped denim from Gap: 1969 mid-weight sexy boyfriend jeans. I love the fit of their 1969 jeans and this wash color is particularly great.
Wedges: Lucky Brand Gable Open Toe Ankle Strap Wedge. I want to wear wedges with every outfit this summer. They are SO much more comfortable than a heal.
Forever 21: Filigree Oval Necklace. Love the price tag on this one- only $6.80!
Is it already Friday?? Man this week flew by. It’s time for Fashion Friday.
I have been loving maxi dresses this summer and I need to make a purchase. I love how they are so light and the cool (temp wise) for hot weather.
1. Maxi Dress from JCrew Factory: Factory V-Neck Maxidress. I saw this on a woman at work the other night and fell in love. It looked SO good on her! It is a very flattering cut.
2. Forever 21: Tri Tone Draped Cardigan. I like how this is a cardigan but just a little different.
3. Gap Wedges: Crisscross wedge sandal. I was surprised to find such cute shoes on the Gap’s website. But I love these wedges.
4. JCrew Bold Necklace: Flower Lattice Necklace. I love this necklace. It can dress up the outfit- to switch to an evening outfit.
5. Michael Kors Glitz Gold Runway Watch. The dress and sweater are both sleeveless so a chunky piece on the wrist will pull the whole look together.
Enjoy your weekend! Tomorrow I am moving apartments and I couldn’t be more excited!!
Guess what?! It is Friday! And it is my Grandpa’s birthday!
So I am in love with this next dress for Fashion Fridays but it is a bit pricey. Cheers to dreaming.
The dress is found online at Oxygen Boutique and it called the ‘Alice + Olivia Alyssa Embellished Party Dress.’
So I’m not great with my pound to US dollar conversion. So I found a calculator and the sad sad reality is $1,017.15! Ouch. Like I said.. dreaming! I’m just one dreaming girl for this Fashion Friday.
I love the sparkles on the dress that give it an extra something. The length is perfect and I can’t get over the cut out front and the neck line. I think it would be perfect to spin around a dance floor in…
I have thought of about a million places to wear this dress to… a dance, date, wedding, party, rainy day… the list goes on and on.
However, my wallet can not afford this beautiful dress.. so I will continue to dream about it 🙂
Enjoy the last day of the work week!
